As part of our transition from a Constituted Voluntary Group to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation we are looking to recruit new volunteers and trustees.

Just Ride is run purely by volunteers. Joining our team is a fantastic opportunity for any individual wanting to get involved in the local community and to build on their own personal skills. If you think you would like to get more involved please see the below details…

Session volunteer/ Session leader

Pay: N/A

Hours: Normally around 3 hours per week

Days: Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday (flexible)

Just Ride Southend are looking for enthusiastic new session volunteers, ideally with the goal of progressing to a session leader. Volunteers will be asked to help run sessions either on Tuesday/Wednesday 10am-12pm or Saturday 10am-1pm.

Role responsibility

As a session volunteer you will be asked to help with the set up and running of the session. You are also invited to attend our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and help out with special events when you can. Volunteers must take responsibility to familiarise themselves with our policies and values. Tasks may include:

  • Set up / pack up of bikes and drink facilities
  • Signing in visitors
  • Helping visitors with completion of forms
  • Helping adjust bikes and helmets
  • Accompanying people on side by side or tandem bikes
  • Ensuring safety of visitors and volunteers at all times
  • Reporting back to either session leader or trustees
  • Communicating with leisure centre

Volunteers will never be asked to carry out tasks they do not feel comfortable with. There are opportunities to push yourself further within our team if that is something you wish to do, for example, becoming a trustee or session leader.

Personal specification 

All training and support will be provided so no qualifications are necessary. Previous work with children, people with disabilities or the elderly is desirable but not essential.

Personal qualities we are looking for are:

  • Good communication skills
  • Reliable
  • Punctual
  • Team player
